The cha siu bao, or Cantonese barbecue pork buns, are some of the best in Southern Colorado. Puffy, steamed dough surrounds a savory, charred barbecue pork filling made with shallots, soy sauce and oyster sauce. The buns feel surprisingly light while highlighting rich flavors, making them the perfect accompaniment to the tea ceremony.

La Concha Bakery & Coffee, Near the Broadmoor
• It’s hard to walk into La Concha, a bakery near the Broadmoor, without wanting to buy everything in the display case. Their array of pastries includes croissants stuffed with sliced strawberries, drizzled with icing and dusted with powdered sugar, as well as fluffy vanilla donuts dipped in pale yellow frosting and topped with fresh raspberries. La Concha’s signature pastry, the concha, is a domed sweet bread from Mexico. The sweetened roll is topped with a crunchy, crackly sugar coating that melts in your mouth. Try the chocolate version for the perfect accompaniment to an afternoon tea or coffee.
