Fuel and Iron Food Hall celebrated their relaunch last month, bringing Pueblo a variety of all-day food options at more affordable price points. The food hall features restaurants with all different types of cuisine, including chicken wings, pizza, bison dishes, and more. Customers can also enjoy the bar onsite, which is serving draft beer from Colorado, seasonal cocktails, and other wines and spirits.
The new co-owners, Bryan and Jennifer Fahrer, took over Fuel and Iron this past February. They owned Wings on Wheels, one of the stalls which was in the preexisting food hall, and already had a sense of the work it took to sustain the whole operation. When the couple received news of the forthcoming closure, they decided to buy the space in order to keep serving Pueblo residents exciting new culinary choices.
Currently, the food hall is home to four restaurants: Wings on Wheels, Double D’s BBQ Shack, Union Pizza Co., and The Hungry Buffalo. Wings on Wheels, owned by the Fahrers, is serving up jumbo chicken wings, smash burgers, and mac and cheese. Their comfort food is good for kids, families, and anyone needing something warm and homey. Double D’s BBQ, which is family owned, makes Pueblo-inspired smoked meats and southern sides. Union Pizza Co. is crafting Neapolitan-style pizza, which is a style of pizza made with simple ingredients and a smoking hot oven for a crispy crust. The Hungry Buffalo is a veteran-owned spot serving dishes made with bison meat.
The appeal of the food hall is that everyone is able to pick something different to enjoy.
“If a family of four comes in and the mom wants pizza and the dad wants wings and the kid wants barbecue or Mexican food, everybody gets to choose exactly what they want to eat,” said Jennifer Fahrer, the co-owner of Fuel and Iron.
In the future, a cafe will be opening with coffee and other drinks. The owners are also launching a series of community events hosted at Fuel and Iron. These include parties like Pueblo’s first silent disco, where attendees put on headphones and select their preferred music, as well as karaoke, trivia, bingo, and other special events. The First Fridays Art Walk is also hosted at the food hall.
Fuel and Iron also boasts a large event space inside the building. The space fits up to 60 people, and there are catering options available for people looking for a place to host a party, professional lunch, or other event.
“The most rewarding thing is to see the people that had tried [Fuel and Iron] years ago come back to try it again. We’re getting those people back, and they’re happy, and they enjoy coming in now,” Fahrer said.
