Baguni Mart, a new supermarket offering Korean and Japanese groceries, opened in Pueblo on Oct. 8. After postponing its opening several times, the spacious market is now open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the north side of town.
The store shares ownership with Asiana Market in Colorado Springs. Before Baguni Mart opened, many Pueblo residents made the drive north to shop at Asiana or Asian Pacific Market for ingredients that were otherwise hard to find locally. On social media, residents have expressed excitement about the new store. “So excited! I won’t have to drive to the Springs anymore for ingredients!” one user commented on Baguni Mart’s Instagram page.

Baguni Mart offers a wide selection of canned goods, produce, pantry staples, meat, seafood and specialty products from across Asia. The store also features a DIY ramen section with hot water on tap and carries home goods such as chopsticks, teapots and cookware. Shelves are stocked with popular snacks like mochi ice cream, rice crackers and sweet candies in every flavor imaginable, as well as a wide range of canned and bottled drinks.
The store also carries trendy treats that have gone viral online, such as Propitious mango ice cream: a Chinese frozen dessert that has created long lines and sellouts at Asian supermarkets across the country. These items reflect a growing nationwide enthusiasm for Asian flavors, fueled by social media and the rise of Korean and Japanese cuisine in mainstream dining.
Across the U.S., demand for Asian supermarkets has surged. National chains such as H Mart and 99 Ranch have expanded rapidly to meet the growing appetite for authentic ingredients, offering everything from gochujang to fresh kimchi in cities large and small.
