Seeing a live music performance is a quintessential experience for any music lover. The act is the main ingredient, but a good venue makes the concert much better. Here’s what to expect at the region’s premier small venues.
Black Sheep
This venue is a musical institution. You can catch local or national talent here nearly any night of the week. It is a mostly standing-room, intimate, energy-laden, usually full, music-lovers palace that delivers a real experience as evidenced by its decades-long string of “Best Live Music Venue” awards. Put bluntly, it rocks.
Hillside Gardens
On Wednesday nights in summertime, head to Hillside Gardens for an enchanting evening. This venue makes up in beauty what it lacks in concert lighting. The weekly concerts are more like mini music festivals, with multiple food and drink options and an outdoor ambience and spirit. Dance by the pavilion or bring your own chair to sit on the lawn or in the gardens to enjoy local musicians.
Jives Coffee Lounge
If you seek a laid-back cafe vibe with your entertainment, Jives is an upbeat coffee lounge where you can enjoy live music with great coffee and smoothies. The stage is a central part of the cafe’s design and music is central to the mission here. Wednesday is Open Mic Night and Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays feature a variety of other performances.
Lulu’s Downtown
Style and ambience dominate at Lulu’s. This venue offers more than music, with comedy, performance art and other gatherings on the schedule. Offering the widest selection of genre, and the roomiest dance floor, Lulu’s gives off lounge vibes with seating away from the stage floor to sit and relax or stand and groove freely.
Stargazers Theatre and Events Center
The dome has seen thousands of live music concerts, film screenings and other events. The venue itself is best described as an intimate concert hall experience. Alongside the tribute bands are original acts featuring local and national talent. Most shows are general admission with plenty of seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sunshine Studios Live
Both indoor and outdoor stages make this location unique. In addition to live music, the venue does open mic, karaoke and some truly unique events. You never know what you will find here, but metal and hip-hop are staples of the lineup. Limited seating is available for most shows.
Vultures
Vultures is located near the Black Sheep, but it is a world apart. This venue currently specializes in weekend shows but will be expanding its concert lineup, so watch for new bookings. Inside the door is an intimate, comfortable setting. Half bar, half music venue, Vultures offers a variety of seating choices, a cozy, laid-back ambience and a genuine live music show experience.
What’s Left Records
Vinyl junkies welcomed this trendy and traditional record store when it opened. What’s Left Records brought something new to Platte Avenue. This record store with a mosh pit specializes in local music. While it features a wide range of musical genres, it is best known for punk, hip hop, indie and metal music. Shows usually occur Thursday through Sunday.

Blo Back Gallery
Called the place to be for live music in Pueblo, this art gallery is a vibrant space dedicated to art and live music. It offers a legit concert experience in an intimate venue. A number of music genres are featured through both local and national artists. Live music is mostly a weekend activity here, but the gallery itself is a reason to visit any day of the week.
Brues Alehouse
Some people go to Brues for the German-inspired craft beer and from-scratch menu, but the live music scene is the real draw. Brues boasts a gourmet stage area and plenty of room to enjoy the music. Seating and standing room are available in the concert space. Both local and nationally known acts perform here, and the atmosphere makes for a memorable experience, even without the music.
Copper River
Offering a gamut of entertainment options for the whole family, Copper River also boasts a spacious dance floor and stage. It was named Texas Music Chart Award Venue of the Year in 2025. Featuring Texas and red dirt country music, shows here are worth the wait as not every week features live music. Copper River is known for a family-friendly atmosphere and every seat in the house is a good one. Reserve a table early if you don’t want to stand for the performance.
Trinidad Lounge
The combination of diner and dive bar makes this a nostalgic venue, rooted in tradition. That being said, performances here are up close and personal with events scattered throughout the week. This local favorite is a unique venue and, while it might lack the flashy production values found in other venues, the spirit and vibe of the place create a memorable music experience. Shows here are usually only on weekends.
The Well Hotel & Taproom
Almost every night there is something happening at the Taproom, be it games, open mic or live bands. A full spectrum of music genres awaits you. Being small, it offers up-close and personal experiences with the band no matter where you are sitting. Thursdays is open mic and Friday and Saturday feature live music from regionally known performers.
Crystola Roadhouse
This landmark of Ute Pass, now under new ownership, has not reopened as of time of publication. But live music will be on the menu once the doors open.
Ute Lodge Bar and Grill
Friday nights are live music nights at this historic watering hole. Ute Lodge features country and western style in both decor and music. The seating is comfortable and the band is right next to the dance floor, so shows here are intimate and personal. Notable musicians play here, making it a destination for live music in Teller County.
